The actor Tony Curtis took a break, in 1983, from filming with Sir Laurence Olivier and Orson Welles to attend a Quiz being held at the Brentford Dock Marina Club owned by Danny Gillen who was a long time friend and stuntman of the actor.

This year Brentford Dock Residents Association will be contributing over £3,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support (Macmillan Nurses). The Association raised about £1,550 at the recent Coffee Morning and £1,500 at the Bring and Buy Sale. Thanks are due not only to the residents who worked so hard, but to everyone who came along to support the two events. The pictures are from the Coffee Morning.
On Saturday 13th September Brentford Dock residents partied as they watched over 300 boats pass Brentford Dock. There were 289 boats competing in the 22-mile Great River Race from Richmond to Greenwich and they were accompanied by safety boats and other boats carrying spectators.
There were Chinese dragon boats, Hawaiian war canoes, Viking longboats, gondolas, Irish curraghs, shallops, gigs, skiffs, wherries and whalers all rowed or paddled by entrants from the UK and overseas. There were classes for Ladies, Mixed Crews, Veterans over 40, Veterans over 60, Juniors under 18, Juniors under 16 and Juniors under 14.
On the afternoon of Wednesday 8th October, Sky News announced the death of Brentford Dock resident Bob Friend. He was recently hospitalised. He will be sadly missed.
On Wednesday 26th November, Michael Fletcher of Augustus Close was involved in a traffic incident whilst on his bicycle on the A4 and subsequently died. More information here.
