Brentford Dock Residents' Association raised £1,406.71 from its sale on Saturday 19th September and a further £1,556.98 from its Coffee Morning (part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning) on Friday 25th September.
Both events took place in the Residents’ Clubroom, 1 Augustus Close and raised a total of £2,963.69 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The First World War Memorial that was in St Lawrence’s church, at the corner of Augustus Close and Brentford High Street, has been moved to Brentford Library and was re-dedicated on Saturday 19th September.
At 9.30 AM, a parade led by the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers (based at Hounslow Barracks), Standard Bearers from the Royal British Legion, other Regimental Associations, and the 203 Brentford Cadets marched from the Magistrates Court, along Brentford High Street, up Half Acre, to Brentford Library.
They were joined on the march by the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Paul Lynch, the Mayoress, the Mayor’s Mace Bearer, the Deputy Mayor & Consort and the Reverend Derek Simpson.
Resident snapper Ian Ridpath observed that "Missing letters" produce an unfortunate result for Brentford's supermarket.
Sometime after 1.00 pm on Saturday 20th June, King Henry VIII and his Queen were rowed past Brentford Dock aboard the Royal Shallop Jubilant. They were accompanied by a flotilla of traditional shallops and Watermen’s cutters.
Henry was on his way to Hampton Court Palace for a weekend of music, dancing and entertainment in the Palace gardens to mark the 500th anniversary of his coronation (24 June 1509).
On Wednesday 16th March, the 260-year-old stone lion that used to sit on the roof of Syon House was taken away for emergency repairs to his crumbling paws and tail. Syon Park says the lion, which is the Percy family emblem, is due back in about three month's time, all being well.
