What a treat for us, a new book, to be released in February 2011, about Brentford, from Gillian Clegg, author of the excellent ‘Brentford Past’ (2002).
In this latest book, ‘Brentford Through Time’, the changes Brentford has gone through over the years are portrayed by comparing old illustrations and photographs with ones of today. The book reminded me of how its location next to the rivers and canal, at the western gateway to London, gave Brentford its rich culture. Today, we seem to have lost some of that special architectural character, but maybe this book could help as a useful reminder of the qualities of Brentford for the many new developments.
The choice and quality of the images are superb.
