Local Sculptures - ‘Couplet’

Couplet

A sculpture created by Charles Hadcock in 1999 and located on Church Street corner with Chiswick Mall, Chiswick, next to the parish church of St Nicholas. It was sponsored by Fullers Brewery which is just around the corner.

The sculpture looks like an engineered part of some equipment in a factory, as if wrapped and bolted together. It has mathematical curves and exact rectangles cut out, embedded in bronze looking like a natural stone. And yet it has a smooth flowing form interlocking together. It reflects Hadcock's interest in geology, engineering and mathematics.

Charles Hadcock (1965 - )

Charles Hadcock was born in Derby He studied fine art at Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology (1984-87) and at the Royal College of Art, London (1987-89), specialising in sculpture.

His first solo exhibition was held in 1991. and since then he has had some eight solo shows, and has been included in well over twenty group exhibitions from 1989.
