Residents of the Northern Mariana Islands may suffer due to the temporary closure of the Tinian Dynasty casino.
Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino – a five-star hotel and a casino area of 75 thousand square meters, opened in 1998. Tinian Dynasty casino is owned by Hong Kong Entertainment and is located on the island of Tinian in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Representatives of the company recently told local authorities that from August 14 casinos temporarily suspend their work. This is due to the severe consequences of the devastating Typhoon Soudelor. Many tour operators working with these islands have difficulty selling tours, and charter flights are unable to land, as local airports have limited their work during the daytime. All this is very unprofitable for the casino, so the Hong Kong Entertainment administration decided to suspend the work.
The head of the municipality of Tinian San Nicholas, expressed concern that the current situation will affect all the inhabitants, especially, of course, the casino workers themselves. Tinian Dynasty is the main employer for locals. They work or in a casino, or in places that are financed by taxes from the casino.
Casino Manager Chris Bishon said that for the period of closing the staff will be provided with free accommodation and meals, as well as a lump sum payment of wages. He also assured that casino together with local authorities will make every effort to resume the work of the casino as soon as possible.
